Natural Resource Inventories and Watershed Planning

The Baker River flowing through Rumney on the left, and flowing through Warren on the right.

Through a grant from the NH Department of Environmental Services, the Baker River Watershed Association hired us to write a watershed management plan for the Baker River Watershed.  Based on a combination of field work, GIS mapping, public meetings, municipal meetings, and close consultation with the Association, we wrote the management plan and presented it to the public and each of the four towns along the main stem of the Baker River.

During the summer of 2003 we conducted a Natural Resource Inventory for the Town of Northfield.  During the field work portion of the NRI, we found a great blue heron rookery while following a series of beaver ponds.  These three herons were not quite ready to fledge and stood like statues.  We left the area quickly to minimize our disturbance.
